Knowing or Living?

Is the Bible something that's only to be read? Or is it something that's to not only read, but to be applied and lived out? Is knowing more about the Bible what's most important? I thought Christianity was more about living out what you read from the Bible? I went past a great sign recently that said, "Live the Bible. It may be the only Bible people read." This is so true. Even in Jesus' day there were the Pharisees. They knew a lot but didn't live much of it out. They were hypocrites. The same thing happens still today. People who know so much about the Bible, and yet if you noted their lifestyle, it wouldn't be very consistent with how the Bible says we're to live. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus gives us some sound wisdom, "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash." Why would He tell us this? Because some people will hear what He says and yet still don't do what He says. This is not the kind of Christians we're called to be. Today, people all around you will watch how you live. Will it draw them closer to Christ? Will your life line up with the Bible today? That's my desire :)
