Blessing Those God Has Placed In Authority

Last night I emceed a wonderful event where the Meridian Police Department and its fine men and women were honored and thanked for all they do. There were many officers in attendance as well as our Mayor and several other elected officials. As the night came to a close and everyone was dismissed, most of those in attendance stayed and talked. Everyone I talked with was so appreciative of being honored and blessed by all the thanks they had been given throughout the evening. This included all the police officers as well as those elected officials who were there. If you think about it for a moment, leaders are always the easiest to be critical of and be negative towards. It's so easy to attack them and talk badly about them. Whether it's a police officer, someone in government, a boss, a teacher, a parent or anyone else who God has placed in authority. Romans 13:1 tells us, "For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God." They aren't there because of man's doing, but God's. And instead of being critical and negative towards them, we should be lifting them up in our prayers. In getting to know some people involved in law enforcement throughout the years, I do pray for them and lift them up as they put their lives on the line to protect and serve others. Try it today. Pray for all those people who God has placed in a position of authority. Being a leader is no easy task and I think any person carrying responsibility and leading would appreciate knowing that people are praying for them :)
