The Blame Game

He did it! She did it! It was them! It was their fault! Maybe you've heard statements like this before, or perhaps you've even said them. I guess part of the problem with doing this is that it's so easy to do. It's easy to point the finger at others and let them take the fall for something. But as easy as it is for people to blame others for something, I wish it were that easy for people to take responsibility for their shortcomings and mistakes also. The first example we see of the blame game is found in the Garden of Eden when God confronts Adam and Eve. We see in Genesis 3:11-13 the story unfold, "Who told you that you were naked?" the Lord God asked. "Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?" 12 The man replied, "It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it." 13 Then the Lord God asked the woman, "What have you done?" "The serpent deceived me," she replied. "That’s why I ate it." It can't but call it a game because that so often what it becomes. Pointing fingers at others and blaming them for things is easy to do, but be just as quick yourself to take responsibility for things you need to. I think blaming others for things will never stop, but one thing I can do is to cause there to be one less person on the planet who chooses to have wisdom in this area and not just go around pointing fingers. Will you choose to do the same today? It's time to put your fingers back in their holster :)
