Broken Racket Strings and Life

Over my career in tennis I have broken thousands of strings in my rackets. I have also strung thousands of strings in not only my rackets, but others too. Even now I string the occasional tennis racket to make a little extra money http://boise.craigslist.org/spo/2944702178.html One thing I've noticed over the years is the number of people who break a string in their racket and then get rid of the racket. Just because the strings are broken it doesn't mean the entire racket is bad. What do you do when you break a string? You simply pay $20 at a store (or $10 with me) to have it restrung :) Racket strings remind me a lot about life. When things are going well, everything's great, but when you stumble with something, a lot of people feel like it's all over and give up. Proverbs 24:16 tells us that, "The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again." Unfortunately there are way too many people who give up when they stumble. There are times in life when we do stumble, fall and fail, yet the Bible also gives us an amazing promise, if only we'll do it. We simply need to confess our sins and ask the Lord to forgive us. The incredible promise to us found in 1 John 1:9 from God is, "...if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness." So if you break a racket string don't throw the racket away, get it restrung. If you stumble or fail in your Christian walk, confess your sins, receive His forgiveness and love, get up and get going again :)
