Throwing Tantrums is Unacceptable!

I was recently in as store getting a few things I needed. I began hearing the high pitch screams of a child. I couldn't tell whether someone had gotten hurt and needed help, so I went looking. As I rounded the aisle I found the culprit. There in a shopping cart was a four or five year old throwing a fit. He was definitely letting everyone in that part of the store know he wasn't happy. I could hear his mom telling him that she wasn't going to buy an item for him and the child's response was simply to go crazy. I'm amazed in our culture that throwing tantrums is acceptable. It's not only a child thing, but is done by people of all ages. When people don't get what they want, or the way they want something, they throw fits. Sometimes you can't help but want to say, "grow up!" I've seen high schoolers, young adults, adults and even older people throw tantrums in public because they didn't get what they wanted. Don't people realize that things frequently don't go the way we expected or planned? It's called life. Life will throw you its curveballs, but we can't get irritated, upset and angry about it. Life is full of the unexpected and unpredictable. This is why Proverbs 3:5-6 is so important to us. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." When things don't pan out how you thought they would today, it doesn't give you the right to throw a tantrum, letting everyone around you know about it. Also stop being a victim and feeling sorry for yourself! Run to the Lord and allow Him to lead you as you trust in Him.
