Where's Your Peace and Joy?

As a parent, praying for my children on a daily basis has been a necessity. Seeing the Lord answer my prayers over them has been amazing, and stirs me to pray even more for them. One of the things I pray daily for my children is that they wouldn't surrender their "peace or joy." Obviously they are two of the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, the fruits of Christ living inside of us. In other words, and this is what I tell my children, no-one or no thing can steal your peace or joy. However, you can surrender it. You can give it up and allow something else to replace it. As Christians, all too often we surrender our peace and joy that's within us, allowing bitterness, jealousy, envy, anger, frustration, heaviness, and so on, to enter. Have you ever been around someone who's full of peace and joy? It's so obvious and attractive :) I'm challenged daily to fight to keep my peace and joy, choosing not to surrender it for because of what someone is doing or has said, or for some circumstance I have no control over. Will you choose to keep your peace and joy today? As fruit of Christ living inside of you it's well worth it. If you're a parent I encourage you to pray for peace and joy in your children as well as for yourself.
