What Do You Do?

I think all of us from time to time have been asked the question, "What do you do for work?" Maybe you have your line that describes your title and responsibilities. But recently someone asked me this question, and the response I gave wasn't the normal answer I'd given when asked this question in the past. Usually my answer would be. "I'm a pastor." However, this time the words that came out of my mouth were, "I help people become successful. Whether it's in their personal life, their marriage, their family, their job, or anything else. I help them succeed!" I realize that this does describe what a pastor does, serving others and helping them grow. I just liked the way my new description sounded. Isn't that what it's all about? Taking a back seat with the goal of helping others around you to become successful. That starts with their walk with the Lord. If this can be done, everything else in their life will flow from it. I know that there are many who help others, and really there's no greater calling. I can't help but think of Philippians 2 here. Take a moment to read it if you get a chance. Think how different your day could be today if your goal was to help others. Think about the impact on the lives of others you could have. Today, will you help others around you become successful?
